They Each Reach for the other

The Tao and the Kabbalah Tree of Life share a similar mystical language in describing human spiritual development reaching up, while sacred forces reach down to assist.

jeanw5's avatarGrass-Roots Spiritual Philosophy 101

A simple seeker was experiencing images floating through her mind
as her Spirit teacher explained to her the deep meaning behind
the top triad of sephiroth, or energy centres, of he Kabbalah
Tree of Life.

Then she remembered that Lao Tzu had also spoken of the Tao
using similar language. It made her feel just a little clever
at connecting the two mystical traditions.

The one Tao becomes two and then the two becomes three, and
from three come the ten thousand things, or everything else.

Yes.

It sounds like a business tycoon thinking of possible future profits.

It’s about creation.

Of what?

Life, and a way of life.

It sounds so mysterious, and why does this trickle-down effect
come from the top when our personal development begins at the
bottom?

They each reach for the other.

Life Never Promises Easy

We each possess different capacities to absorb intellectual, emotional, and spiritual nutrients, as well as different degrees of awareness and appreciation of their value. Is Spirit scolding me?

jeanw5's avatarI Ching as a Way to Enlightenment

A Spirit teacher shares His understanding
of timeless wisdom planted deep within
the I Ching hexagram 3 – Difficulty.

Water is over Thunder.
Both trigrams express yang energies.

Difficulty follows The Receptive (3)
the most powerful yin hexagram.

The receptive expresses a state of mind
that is open to wisdom, whatever its source.

But, what to do with that wisdom?

In nature it would be shared, as nutrients
in the soil are made available to all
plants having their roots in that soil.

The difficulty arises in how to distribute
intellectual, emotional, and spiritual
nutrients among people possessing different
capacities to absorb, and different degrees
of awareness and appreciation of their value.

A personal message?

Yes.

I Am The Way I Am Because

Spirit shares His understanding of timeless wisdom.

He tells me that I am the way I am because
that is the way I am.

The only question that seems to make any sense is,
So, why am I as I seem to be?

Your original nature has been modified
by experiences and reflection on those experience,
resulting in a personal interpretation, or
misunderstanding of the causes and consequences
resulting from previous experiences.

We learn from experience, and yet, some of us
learn quicker than do others.

Pain and pleasure seem to be necessary components
of our learning how to live in this World; and to
discover what works, or seems to, and what does not,
in different situations.

We learn that consistency of response is
inappropriate. What works with one situation does
not seem to work in another. We must also,
He tells me, learn to measure the quality of our
response to any given situation.

What ever made me think that living should be
easy? Perhaps that’s why the way I am is, or
seems to be, confusion, personified.

Form as a Temporary Ilusion

Spirit shares His understanding of timeless wisdom with me.

He suggests that I let Life lead me where it wills to.
To resists is wasting my precious time, or at least my
temporary share of Cosmic energy.

We are each alone together on a journey of discovery.
Life is a treasure chest that has somehow dumped itself,
and scattered its precious contents of adventures and,
at times, even hidden them, but not without leaving
subtle clues, or not so subtle hints at where and how
to find what’s meant for each of us, alone to find;
our inner self, the perfect complement to what we now
seem to believe we are.

How would I recognize this inner me?

It will be as if looking into a magic mirror that
reflects only your essence, without form. The essence
is real and timeless; the form is no more than
a temporary illusion.

We Fear Losing Control

We each possess the potential to love unconditionally. Then why don’t some of us do it? Spirit tells me that we fear losing control.

jeanw5's avatarSimple Seeker Society

Spirit tells me tht we express love by caring for and
respecting that or those whom we claim to love.

But, there are unlimited degrees of quantity and quality
of care and respect.

Yes, and there are unlimited degrees of love.

And quality?

Love itself expresses the quality of our soul’s
development.

Can we control love?

No. What we don’t express, we don’t have to express.
Love is limited only by the personal restrictions
we put on ourselves. We each possess the potential
to love unconditionally.

Then, why don’t we?

We fear losing control.

Envy Wants.

Trust in yourself, Spirit tells me. Build confidence on the awareness of having come as far as you have. How did you do it? Not without help. All angels and spirit guides are dedicated to our success, and so, we can none of us not succeed.

jeanw5's avatarSimple Seeker Society

Spirit shares gems of wisdom.

Spirit tells me that our spiritual journey through
the illusion that is human life must pass through
many valleys of doubt and wind around dark mountains
and dense forests of insecurity and fear.

We will lose faith in ourselves and even in the existence
of our goal, again and again. But, we will move on and on,
for something stronger and surer than our own will prepares
the path we follow, as the wise ones have always assured us.

Trust in yourself, He tells me. Build confidence on
the awareness of having come as far as you have. How did
you do it? Not without help. All angels and spirit guides
are dedicated to our success. And, so, we can none of us
not succeed. It’s only a matter of …

Time?

Not time, for there is none, or none that can be accurately measured.

Experience as a Teacher

We all, at least to some extent, aspire towards higher levels of personal skills. Envy is seeing the qualities in others that we want for ourselves.

jeanw5's avatarGrass-Roots Spiritual Philosophy 101

This simple seeker was admiring, in her mind (but, where else
could she admire anything), a beautiful pink rose that someone
had generously shared on Twitter. But, as beautiful as the flower
was, there was something else going on. Envy was slipping into
the picture.

What’s wrong with envy?

I want to be able to appreciate the skills of others without
wishing that I also possessed them.

Do you envy everyone’s skills?

No, just the ones that I wish I, too, possessed.

Why don’t you possess the skills you admire?

Some people may have more natural talent than do others.

Some people may be unaware of what so-called natural talents
they do possess.

It isn’t possible for me to develop all the talents I admire
in others.

Have you tried?

There would never be enough time for that, and …

Yes, it would pull your focus from what you now…

Waiting for an Answer

My spirit teacher tells me that the I Ching energy called Heaven expresses the power of potential. To become ..?

jeanw5's avatarI Ching as a Way to Enlightenment

A spirit teacher shares His understanding of timeless wisdom
contained within the I Ching Hexagram 5 – Waiting.

Water is over Heaven. Both express yang energies; Heaven as
ultimate power, and Water as flowing downward to reach its
own comfort zone; its own level.

What is Heaven?

Heaven is Life.

But, there are many forms of life.

Heaven is beyond form.

Is it potential form?

It is potential.

Then, it can become …

What?

Whatever it might have the power to become?

It has the power of potential itself.

What does that mean?

Are you waiting?

Yes.

For what?

For an answer.

Yes.

A Restless Spirit

How sure are we of what we are seeking, if we are seeking anything that we don’t already possess? Spirit asks me such difficult questions.

jeanw5's avatarGrass-Roots Spiritual Philosophy 101

Simple seeker, what is it that you claim to be seeking?

Why do you say “claim”?

How sure are you of what you are seeking, if you are seeking
anything that you don’t already possess?

In which case …

Yes.

Does it matter?

Yes, we should know what it is that we do not now possess,
and yet seem to need to.

Perhaps …

Yes, anything we might wish to have can be categorized under
one general heading.

Peace of Mind?

Yes, and to the question you are almost ready to ask,
the answer is yes, it is possible to possess peace of mind.
Would you like it?

No.

Yes, a restless spirit, after my own heart.

Awareness as an Option

A simple seeker meditates on Destiny and Fate, and being as an acorn.

jeanw5's avatarGrass-Roots Spiritual Philosophy 101

A simple seeker was meditating on the four Tarot
queens until her mind seemed to rest, or focus, on
The Queen of Cups.

What about her?

I seem to relate to her.

How?

Her throne has a high back, as does my new patio
recliner, except that she looks much more at ease
than I feel in this high and over-sized, for me,
chair.

Perhaps elegance has always been part of her life.
Is hers the style to which you would like to become
accustomed?

No. It’s too late.

It was always too late.

Why is that?

We each have a path prepared for us.

Isn’t that fatalism?

No, destiny.

What’s the difference?

Fate is imposed from outside sources and/or forces.

And destiny isn’t?

Yes. Destiny is not.

The acorn theory?

It’s more than a theory.

How would the results be different?

Fate allows for no adaptation to the journey
