Blogging 101 – Assignment 1 – Self introduction.

How to introduce myself – now I remember – as in real University tutorials – tell us all about your life in two minutes. That being rather impossible and likely to put everyone to sleep, I’ll stick to the program questions:

  • Why am I blogging instead of keeping a journal? I have a dream, or at least at one time I had a dream of eventually writing a book.
  • What topics will I be writing about? I hope to integrate philosophy, psychology, current social topics, local and global politics, and mystical spirituality with references to and from as many of the ancient, and not so ancient wisdom sages from whatever tradition I become interested in, and I’m interested in them all.
  • Who would I like to connect with on my blog? All sincere thinkers.
  • If I blog successfully throughout the next year, what will I hope to have accomplished? I want to develop my unique style and voice, as a (ready or not I must tell you) channel for an inner voice whose identity is a mystery to me, for now.

I Ching 23 – Stripping Away

The way we live should express both our inner and outer values, in harmony with each other.

I Ching as a Way to Enlightenment

Today’s I Ching – 23 – Stripping Away

Mountain above. Earth below.

Stripping Away follows Adornment.

Spirit Explains:

Adornment suggests excess of what is functionally necessary.

Stripping away reduces some of this excess.

It is time, He tells me, for a new beginning; to live a more

Simple and uncluttered lifestyle. The way we live should

Express both our inner and outer values, in harmony with

Each other.

How is that possible, without the material means to express

Oneself as one would?

Then we do what we can with what we have. And, He suggests,

There are always areas of excess in our lives.

Such as?

Excess of inactivity could be reduced with exercise.

I give up.

Yes.

The Game Plan in The World of Mind

Desire and intention as the only way for any two or more individuals, groups, or nations to learn to communicate and harmonize with each other.

Grass-Roots Spiritual Philosophy 101

A simple seeker seemed to be rapidly slipping into concepts of cosmic reality beyond her depth.

How do you know?

What?

Anything  about anything.

By daring to question what it might mean?

Yes. So why don’t we play that game with the seeming relationship between Chockmah and Malkuth on The Tree of Life in The World of Mind?

How to begin, and where, when there seems to be no clear beginning?

There’s always a shadowy beginning that emerges from some earlier experience.

Okay. I was developing a sense of harmonizing the different aspects of The World of Consciousness; the world that gradually merges into Mind.

Yes. You reached a tipping point that became the densest form of mind, which, in Kabbalah symbolism is referred to as Malkuth.

It’s hard to believe that I’ve come this far, unless you’re testing my ego.

What difference would that make to today’s lesson.

Any and All Relationships Express a Way of Life

A spirit teacher shares His understanding of timeless wisdom.

He tells me that our dreams are worlds of parallel reality to
our so-called awake world, and are designed to teach us of
potential for illusion in our everyday experiences.

While dreaming, the dream world seems real, even though it
may not be in many or any ways similar to the world we live
in, upon awakening.

How can it seem real if it isn’t?

One thing we are aware of during a dream is our own existence,
even if it is experienced as no more than an observer. We
Relate to the drama. It seems to make sense to us, at the time.
We don’t stop to question its authenticity.

So, the dream could be telling me something totally unrelated to
the scenario in the dream itself?

Yes.

Then, how do I make sense of it?

When?

After I wake up.

Do you wake up?

What do you mean?

To wake up is to become aware that human existence itself is
an illusion.

But, I’m living a human existence.

Yes

Why?

To develop awareness of the power of relationship.

Singular?

Yes.

In that any and all express a way of Life?

Yes, the only Way.

Where Does Chaos Rule?

A spirit teacher shares His understanding of timeless wisdom.

He tells me that there was a time, not very distant into
the past, when children everywhere learned, at a very young
age, to understand and to speak a particular language, and
the language they learned to understand and to speak became
their language, and more; much more.

From a child’s perspective, language is a means for sharing
his or her world with other people, their people.

Also, many of us learned to believe in a particular religion
at a very young age. Whether we were aware of it or not, we
also learned social rules specific to that particular religion.
as separate from legal or traffic rules. The religious rules
we learned served as a social code, to guide the way we would
learn to live our life.

Many of us no longer live in a community where we all understand
and speak the same language, or accept the same religion, and
the same specific social rules that specific religions teach.

Perhaps even the same traffic rules may not apply to all
communities?

Yes.

Where does Chaos rule?

Chaos never rules except as a transitional force between
one set of rules and another, or between individuals or
groups of individuals adjusting to the larger realities of
Life, and learning to understand that no rules are necessarily
acceptable to all people in all places, or for all time,
unless they serve and make sense to all people.

All languages and all religious social customs or rules serve
or did serve a purpose, when societies lived separate from
each other. They provide or did provide a sense of community.

Today, for many of us, it is the language, religion, or social
customs of others, not our own, that contribute to disharmony
and conflict in our relationships within a world community.

Our attitudes may invite Chaos to rule, when simple respect
would serve to unite us.

Where

How to Live and Why

Spirit shares gems of wisdom.

Spirit tells me that to live in such a way that brings
a sense of satisfaction and pleasure requires us
to seek to serve others, because in serving others
we also serve ourselves.

Survival of oneself depends upon survival of others
and upon the survival of the environment which
sustains us all.

But, He continues, we cannot care for anyone if we
do not first care for ourselves, because if we have
no love for ourselves then we have no love to share
with anyone or anything else.

It’s as simple as that.

Reaching For The Light

Spirit tells me that I need to learn to live in community
in a mutually satisfactory way, with all others who are
also living, or trying to live, within the same conditions.

How’s that possible where I am?

Where are you?

Below ground level, it seems, in the mud of a bog,
entangled within roots of weeds, as well as among
roots of more respected plants, who are each also
striving to live their life, their way.

All ways are one way.

Which is?

Reaching for the light.

Worlds Within Worlds of Rules

Spirit tells me that happiness is not
different things to different people,
as some might believe it to be.

Happiness is a feeling of contentment
that harmonizes both intellect and
emotion.

Can it last?

Nothing lasts.

But, is it a thing?

What?

Happiness.

What else could it be?

A state of mind.

States and minds are things.

But, people seek happiness.

Where? How?

Wherever and however they seem to think
it might be found.

It can never be found.

Then, is it possible to become happy
or contented.

Yes.

How?

Develop a satisfied mind.

How?

Live by rules of your own choosing.

How to know if I am choosing
the rules I live by?

Who else could choose them?

Most social rules were created before
I was born.

So what?

I didn’t choose them.

Do you live by them?

Some of them.

Why only some?

Some are required.

Why?

They are designed to create order where
there might otherwise be chaos.

Such as?

Traffic laws.

Yes.

What does that mean?

Traffic laws are a form of general rules
designed to benefit all members of specific
societies.

What rules would benefit individuals?

Whatever would benefit a group can only be
effective if it is followed by individuals
within the group.

So, the personal and the general are as one?

Yes and no.

How so?

Group rules apply to everyone to whom
they apply.

And personal rules?

Personally chosen rules are selected from
general rules.

Worlds within worlds of rules?

Yes. Our personal rules should be chosen
above and beyond those we accept.

Who el

A Calling, I Guess

Spirit tells me that we have been climbing
our mountain; our chosen way of life is as
a mountain.

But, what if I didn’t choose my way of life?

How would it be possible not to have chosen?

It may have chosen me.

How would that have been possible?

I was born into a particular family, within
a particular culture, in a particular
community, at a particular time, possessing
particular attributes.

And then what?

I became part of that family and culture.

And then?

And then I seemed to grow beyond …

Beyond what?

Beyond the comfort zone of them and myself.

And now?

I seem to be on the outside, looking in
to a place I can never return to.

Yes. Would you return if you could?

No. I seem to be where I am and moving
even further away from where I once
needed to be.

Is it a choosing?

No.

Then, what?

A calling, I guess.

Yes, but you choose to respond.

Yes.

Beyond the comfort zone
