We Each Change Everything

Spirit tells me that I can only be or become
the person I already am; the person I have
always been and always will be.

I can understand that I am who I was and
will be, but can I become other than I am?

Yes. We change everything and everything
changes us. We are not what we were or
what we may yet become.

So, I’m both a who and a what?

You are not a who; you are who. And,
you can never be a what, whatever what
you may have in mind.

What am I if I am not what I am?

You are a woman.

But, that’s not unique.

The woman you are is unique.

In what way?

No other woman is you.

Being is not enough.

Enough what?

Achievement.

Being doesn’t require much achievement.

But, I want to achieve.

What?

I don’t know.

Nothing can be achieved without effort.

And acquiring something requires effort?

Yes.

And effort requires intent?

Yes.

And intent comes before effort?

Yes.

And what comes before intent?

Desire and a chosen way to achieve
what is desired.

And opportunity?

Yes, but sometimes we must create
our own opportunities.

How?

Observation and preparation, with
help from synchronicity.

Chance?

Call it what you will, but first
do nothing until you know what to do.

How to do nothing?

Practice.

Meditate?

Yes.
But, I

I Ching 62 – Small Excess

A post from the past.

I Ching as a Way to Enlightenment

Today’s I Ching – 62 – Small Excess

Thunder above, Mountain below

Small Excess follows Sincerity in the Centre

Spirit explains:

Excess suggests more than an average amount
of whatever

Small Excess refers to a certain flexibility
between extremes of form and …

Spirit? I interrupt.

Spirit is not an extreme.

He continues, Sincerity in the Centre expresses
intention based on self-awareness.

Where am I?

Yes.

An Ounce of Prevention

I Ching as a Way to Enlightenment. Spirit shares with me, and I share with whomever.

I Ching as a Way to Enlightenment

A spirit teacher shares His understanding
of I Ching 58 – Pleasing.

Lake is over Lake.

If water is emotional …

And it is.

Then, we’ve lost perspective.

Yes.

Pleasing follows Wind and moves toward
Dispersal.

Wind could blow and disperse overflowing
lake water.

What kind of wind would disperse excess
emotion?

The winds of change?

Yes.

Is there something that can be learned
from this situation?

There is always something that can be learned
from any situation.

But, dispersal of flood waters or excess
emotions can be destructive to surrounding
areas.

Yes.

What can we do to protect ourselves and
those we love, and what we now possess.

Before or after?

Prevention is the answer?

Yes.

And, if it’s too late?

Then we suffer the consequences of failure
to recognize and respond to signs of potential
danger and act to prevent tragedies that may
have been prevented.

An ounce…

Relationship Is All There Is

Spirit tells me that we are necessarily attached to relationship because we are, in essence, energy, and energy necessarily relates to all things. because all things also are energy. He makes it sound simple, but my mind seems to be even more simple.

Grass-Roots Spiritual Philosophy 101

A simple seeker was meditating on the concept
of resisting what seemed to be …

Why?

To protect myself from attachment

How?

By accepting that any pleasure or possession
is no more than a temporary experience.

Some might cling all the more, to enjoy
what they do while they can.

So, acceptance is not enough?

Enough what?

We need more than awareness?

To what?

To resolve the problem.

What problem?

The problem of how to let go.

Or what?

Of whatever seems to need to be let go of.

A two-way street?

Yes, and yet more.

Yes, a pressure gradient.

Please explain.

Whatever or whomever we cling to is also
clinging to us.

How?

Everything and everyone is energy, in relationship
with everything and everyone else.

So, it is the relationships and not the temporary
forms that need to be released from each other.

No.

Then, what?

Everything and everyone…

To Serve Comfort Needs

Spirit tells me that there is more to life
than material existence can ever offer,
for it is as the lowest step on a ladder
to ever-higher levels of existence.

Peaceful co-existence can never come from
focus on form alone, while ignoring essence,
and all form possesses, or contains, essence.

Even a chair?

Even a chair.

What essence could a chair possess.

Purpose, or potential purpose.

To serve comfort needs?

Yes, Life itself serves comfort needs.

How?

By expressing itself within all forms
of life.

But, not all forms of life feel comfortable.

How do you know?

I’m a form of life.

Yes.

I don’t always feel comfortable.

Why?

How could that be possible?

How could it not be possible?

There’s something you’re not telling me.

What?

Perhaps we each define comfort differently?

As a quality or as a variable?

I could feel less comfortable?

Yes.

Yes.

To See Essence – Close Your Eyes

I Ching as a Way to Enlightenment

A spirit teacher shares His understanding
of I Ching 11 – Tranquility.

Tranquility develops out of Treading
and moves toward Obstruction.

Earth is over Heaven.

Spirit explains: Normally, Heaven is high
above materially focused Earthly matters,
and yet physical beings can raise themselves
by their own effort, and with assistance
and companionship of others, may develop
a sense of oneness with all.

Heaven and Earth can be as one, when we
do our best to be who we are, and value
our own good opinion of ourselves,
while accepting that we are responsible
to the unity of Life, to contribute
to the development of higher understanding
of all, if possible, and it is.

Tranquility is not weakness in any way.
It is peace of mind. Whether we feel
we must join in active service to protect
our community or serve by teaching children,
or by driving a bus to know…

Alone if Necessary

Perhaps tens of thousands of young people are vulnerable to being pulled into causes not in their own best interest, or in the best interest of their society, because they seem to need to do something more with their life than they are now doing. How to protect them from extreme and socially-destructive so-called causes?

Grass-Roots Spiritual Philosophy 101

A simple seeker was meditating on the concept
of serving a sacred cause, alone, if necessary,
but not necessarily alone.

What cause?

I don’t know.

Then, how can you even think about, let alone
feel self-satisfied, as you seem to, at the
prospect of serving an unknown cause.

I don’t know, but I do.

So, all that is missing is the cause?

The cause? Not a cause?

Could it be any cause?

No.

Then, that narrows the field, somewhat.

You’re mocking me.

Yes.

But, I do seem to need to do something
with my life.

You have.

What have I done?

You have lived.

But, so has everyone else.

Yes, but with a difference.

And the difference is?

Everyone lives his or her own life.

And I have lived mine?

Yes.

But, that relates to the past.

Are you not living now?

in the present?

Where else can you live…

A Tree of Compassion

Spirit asks me what I will do to celebrate
my recovery.

I haven’t fully recovered, yet.

Do you expect to?

More or less.

Then, it is time to plan to celebrate.

How will I celebrate.

You could give thanks to the Universe.

I do, now.

How do you express your thanks?

In action?

How else would it be possible?

What would you suggest?

You could plant a tree.

Where?. My small garden is crowded, now.

Is your heart also crowded?

What kind of tree could I plant in my heart?

A tree of Compassion.

Compassion for whom?

And what?

How can I feel compassion for …

Go on.

For Life?

Is that not possible?

It would include myself.

And?

To feel compassion for myself would require
separating myself from myself.

Can you do it?

Separating the actor from the role she plays?

Yes. Separating essence from form.

It wouldn’t be easy, for me.

I didn’t promise easy.

A Map is a Guideline; not a Guide

The Practical Kabbalah guidebook, by C.J..M. Hopking is slowly helping me to understand a sacred mystery. But, Spirit is my guide.

Grass-Roots Spiritual Philosophy 101

A simple seeker was meditating on the concept of
intention while attempting to connect and merge
individual human energies with those expressed
on the Kabbalah Tree of Life.

And also, necessarily, on the Ladder of Light.

To be on one Tree …

Not on, but within.

We’re moving beyond form?

We always were beyond form.

Then, what purpose does form serve?

As a map.

Where does intention fit on the map?

Intention is not on the map.

But, if the map is a guide …

A guideline; not a guide.

But, the structure of the map,..

Or Tree, or Ladder?

Yes. Don’t they point a way to travel?

No.

Then, what purpose do they serve?

They represent possibilities.

Potential possibilities from which to choose?

Choose what?

The Path or Way we want to travel, from among
the various possibilities represented on the map?

Yes. We choose the Way we plan…

Crossing the Bridge from Ego to Awareness

Where are you? Spirit asks me.

You know where I am.

Yes, but do you?

Somewhere along The Way.

Then He tells me that I’m crossing a bridge
from Ego to Awareness.

Have I reached midway?

There is no midway.

Then, how could I possible know where I am?

You could glance back.

How far back?

As far as you can, or as far as you care to.

I’ve come a long way I confidently tell Him.

Relative to what?

Or to whom?

No.

Why not?

We can never know exactly where anyone else is
along The Way.

Wouldn’t it show?

In what way?

Behaviour-wise. Surely their actions would express
where they were.

How can anyone know why anyone else does what she
or he does or seems to be doing?

Then, how could I choose whom to travel with?

Would you choose by actions that please or
displease you?

How else?

You might choose your companion by what they say.

How could I ever know that they were saying
what they believed was so?

Actions and words as possibly being for effect?

Yes.

Yes.

Then, how can I know?

How can you relate to me?

Our energies seem to harmonize, more or less.

Yes.
