Everyone is called

Spirit shares words of wisdom.

Spirit tells me that when a pendulum has moved as far
as it can in any direction, then it has no choice but
to turn back and move toward …

But …

But what?

Doesn’t the extreme of the movement in any direction
more or less match the extreme …

Yes.

So, wouldn’t the reduced …

The wrong analogy?

Yes.

No.

Please explain.

Extremes are extremes.

And those whose thinking is extreme in one direction
could become just as extreme in another?

Yes.

So, how to be dedicated to one path without risking
being pulled to an opposite way?

There are no opposite ways.

Then, to a different path?

Awareness.

Of what?

Of the many ways …

How is that possible while moving along a chosen way?

How did your so-called chosen way become chosen?

It seemed to make more sense, for me, than the others
I knew.

Then, you were aware of other ways?

Yes. Perhaps not in great depth, but …

But?

Also, I seemed to feel called to this one.

However some others may feel called to a different way?

Yes.

Yes. We each are called in a unique way to a unique path.

Or, we are not called?

Everyone is called. Some just ignore or resist answering.

A controlling interest

Spirit Shares Gems of Wisdom

Spirit asks me, what is our relationship? That puzzles me, as I believe it is as a student and teacher – a one-to-one, as a private tutor, as people with money might purchase.

I am not for sale, He tells me, which is just as well, since I have no money. Perhaps I could never have as much as it might take to offer what He is worth, to me.

But, student and teacher is only part of what our relationship is all about and so I must answer, I don’t know, yet.

Can we pretend, He then asks, to be what we know we are and can we relate to each other as we do, or seem to?

Then Spirit responds to my confused thoughts and emotions with, “Yes, I seem to have a controlling interest in your life and I do, for now.”

Why Do We Do What We Do?

Spirit tells me that our personal behaviour
either serves us well or it doesn’t. But, if
it does not then it must have served us well
at some time in the past, or at least we
must have believed that it did.

What if it just seemed appropriate at a
particular time?

There are no particular times for specific
behaviours.

Why?

All behaviours have a history.

What about spontaneity?

What about it?

If moving out of the way to avoid an
accident that never happened before, then
how could that reflex action have a history.

How could it not?

Because it never happened before.

To you, perhaps, but you would be aware
of a possible outcome for not moving
out of the way.

Perhaps I intuitively knew.

Yes, and intuition is a built-in history book.

A history of what?

Of how to live.

How to live and why

Spirit shares gems of wisdom.

Spirit tells me that to live in such a way
that brings a sense of satisfaction and pleasure
requires us to seek to serve others, because
in serving others we also serve ourselves.

Survival of oneself depends upon survival of
others and upon the survival of the environment
which sustains us all.

But, He continues, we cannot care for anyone
if we do not first care for ourselves for,
if we have no love for ourselves then we have
no love to share with others.

It’s as simple as that.

A long-term project

Spirit asks me to make a promise to be.

To be what?

The best that we can be.

The best what^

What are we?

I don’t know.

We are seekers of ever-greater light.

I think I am, now. But what to do with the light I find when I know there must be even more?

Share what you have found while still reaching for more.

This could become a long-term project.

It is. It lasts forever, but, so do we, in one form or another, or in no particular form at all, if in any.

Degree of Harmony

Spirit tells me that action expresses thought more honestly than words alone usually do, when it isn’t designed to pretend to express thought.

How could action pretend to express thought?

Seemingly spontaneous actions can be skills that have been practiced until they have become almost instinctive responses to situations they have been designed to respond to.

Can sincerity become a skill?

No.

Then how can it be recognized?

By the degree of consistent harmony.

Between?

Actions expressed and the unspoken thoughts.
