Spirit tells me that
Oneness is not possible
Without individuality, and
Though individuality is
Secondary to oneness, it is
A necessary part of oneness.
Spirit tells me that
Oneness is not possible
Without individuality, and
Though individuality is
Secondary to oneness, it is
A necessary part of oneness.
Spirit tells me that
Practice can result in
The development of
Physical, intellectual, emotional and, or
Spiritual patterns of behaviour, but that
Habits can also result in
The development of physical,
Intellectual, emotional, and, or
Spiritual patterns of behaviour.
The difference between
Practice and habit is that
Practice requires intent to
Continuously develop
Desired patterns of
Thinking, feeling, behaving and being.
While habits can develop
Through the lack of intent and
Conscious self-control.
Spirit tells me that
When we choose to take
An easy way out of
An otherwise difficult
Situation, that decision
Could have a long-term
Negative (not so easy) effect
(or consequence).
We could be creating
Future problems for ourselves
(and who wants that)
That might prove to be
Directly related to
Our refusal to face
Difficult situations when
They first visit us.
Spirit asks me, If Life is a battle, then,
What are we fighting and,
What do we hope to win, and,
How would we know
That we have won
Whatever, if
We did.
Then He tells me that
We can never win
A battle, let alone
A war with Life, because
We each are Life.
Spirit suggests that I visualize Him as
The horizon of my own mind, and to
Attempt to come closer to Him.
This concept seems to fit our relationship
Very well, for, as I draw closer to Him,
To His thinking, sustained, to some degree by
The gems of wisdom He provides
My sponge-like appetite,
I never seem to be able
To reach the understanding,
Awareness, and depth of knowing
That He possesses.
Even knowing, or believing that I know
Much more than I ever did, before
He came into my life,
He seems to be able to encourage
My development without fully
Satisfying it. Why?
That would end the game, He tells me.
What game are we playing?
Life.
Life?
Yes.
Spirit tells me to
Never back up or back away
From those I care for, when
Their truth differs from my own, and
They seem to use anger as an argument
To defend it.
Spirit suggests that I practice
Stepping aside; a martial arts move
That allows one’ opponent
To advance without
Direct confrontation.
This would allow me, He tells me,
To witness their anger from
A safer perspective.
Anger is not an argument, but
Is sometimes used as
An alternative to one.
To step aside, in awareness,
Understanding and compassion,
While remaining at peace
With your own truth, and
Wishing peace of mind,
For the other.
Spirit tells me that
It is by choosing how we live,
And why, that gives
Meaning to our life
Our lifestyle consists of
Chosen patterns of activity
And these patterns of behaviour
Can become fixed and rigid, or
They can dissolve into nothingness,
Unless we are aware of how
They serve us and when.
Awareness, alone, is not enough,
He tells me. We must
Continuously choose to adapt
Our thinking, our emotional
responses, and, our attitude
To life, if we choose
To develop a more meaningful
Lifestyle, wherein
Our daily patterns of activity
Are in harmony with our goal,
To transform the way we live
Our life.
Spirit tells me that
I cannot move beyond
What I am, but, that
I have moved beyond
What I once was, or
Where I once was,
Which is another way of
Saying the same thing.
We are moving forward,
He assures me, when I
Get discouraged and wonder
If I am going anywhere
Along the path of
Enlightenment.
Many grade three students
Want to be in grade five, but
We must accept that we can usually
Only advance one grade
At a time.
Trust me, He asks,
That we will get there,
Wherever there is,
And beyond.
But, for now, we are
Where we are. So,
Let’s enjoy who we are, now.
Living this moment
Brings us
To the next one.
Spirit tells me that
We make choices based on
Outcome expectations and
A cost-benefit analysis,
When we are conscious of
The choices we make.
When our choices are
Based on habit,
Even these habitual choices
Have to have had
A beginning, conscious choice
That seemed to have had
Satisfied us, more or less,
At the time.
At least enough for us
To choose that same behaviour
Again and again, until, perhaps
We forgot that
In the beginning,
It was a choice,
Not intended to
Necessarily apply to
Future situations,
And to replace the need
To choose according to
Particular situations.
As conscious shoppers know,
One size of shoe does not
Fit all feet.
Spirit tells me that
My strengths and weaknesses
are one and the same.
Stability and flexibility
Each can serve us in
Different ways in
Different situations,
At different times.
