Envy Wants.

Spirit shares gems of wisdom.

Spirit tells me that our spiritual journey through
the illusion that is human life must pass through
many valleys of doubt and wind around dark mountains
and dense forests of insecurity and fear.

We will lose faith in ourselves and even in the existence
of our goal, again and again. But, we will move on and on,
for something stronger and surer than our own will prepares
the path we follow, as the wise ones have always assured us.

Trust in yourself, He tells me. Build confidence on
the awareness of having come as far as you have. How did
you do it? Not without help. All angels and spirit guides
are dedicated to our success. And, so, we can none of us
not succeed. It’s only a matter of …

Time?

Not time, for there is none, or none that can be accurately measured.

Then, when we each are ready?

Yes.

Then, how do I cope with my distress with myself for not
being able to become what I seem to know that I can become,
as quickly as I would like to?

What’s the hurry?

I seem to feel that I’m wasting precious time.

Compared to the progress of some others?

Perhaps.

Yes. The need to compete is not entirely socially conditioned.
It is part of our nature, but its natural purpose has been
distorted by social conditioning.

Doing our best can inspire others to do more than they might
otherwise do. It was not designed to diminish others. Likewise,

We should admire those who seem to ee able to do what we
cannot?

Yes. recognition of excellence is mutually beneficial.
It both expresses respect and inspires us, not necessarily
to be great, but to be the best that we can be. Envy is
neither emotionally nor spiritually a healthy state of mind.

Envy wants what other have without considering the price
some others may have paid for their success?

Yes.

Awareness of Reality is Progress

Spirit reads I Ching 53 – Gradual Progress.

Gradual Progress develops from Mountain (53) and moves toward

Marrying (54).

Spirit explains:  Mountains can seem to be as barriers, challenges,

Or as just part of the environment. They can be as beauty, in the eye

Of the beholder, and a pleasure to climb, or as an obstruction

To ignore, if possible.

How we see anything or anyone determines, or at least influences,

To some extent, our relationship with it or with them.

Awareness of this reality is progress along the way of enlightenment.

Where does Marrying fit into this picture?

We commit ourselves to Life, or we do not. It’s as simple as that.

If that is simple.

Yes.

Now what?

Today’s I Ching is 39 – Halting.

Water over Mountain.

Halting follows Disharmony.

Spirit explains: Disharmony expresses lack of general consensus,

Disagreement, perhaps even different world views, different

Goals or needs.

Whatever; a way forward has been halted, brought to a stand-still.

A mental road block can halt co-operation and progress as

Effectively as one made of stone.

Now what?

Yes.

Progress as effectively as one made of stone.

Yes.

Pity is Arrogance

Spirit tells me that to tolerate ignorance and other base qualities

In oneself, or in others, is disrespectful of those others and oneself.

It is also counter-productive and slows progress, and so, is also

Disrespectful of our future.

Then how to respond?

Compassion is the answer and is the only way to achieve

Peace of mind. Pity is arrogance pretending to be

Justifiably superior.

If I pity the wretched conditions of others, then I am not

One of them, and, He claims, to be with them and not of them

Is impossible.

Practice is habit with a purpose

Spirit tells me that practice is habit, but an intentional one,

With a goal, and requires intent to improve or maintain

What we have developed in skills or in establishing

A way of life.

Practice can result in patterns of behaviour; physical, intellectual,

Emotional and, or spiritual that may appear to some others to be

No more than habits.

There is also the danger, He cautions, of practice becoming

No more than a habit, when intention is no longer involved.

How can I be sure that I still have intention?

Are you satisfied?

No.

Are you still making progress?

Yes, but …

Even a little is more than none.
