Who Is, or Are, Our Own Kind?

Spirit tells me that everyone resonates with everyone else
in a very personal style. Our individual energy systems
are magnetically attracted to other energy systems,
or they are not. But, no two relationships are or can be
identical.

We each are as a different person to every other person,
animal, or whatever we relate to in any way. Even within
families, each member relates in his or her unique way
to each other family member, pet, visitor, or friend,
as well as to strangers.

We may develop, and we cannot easily avoid doing so,
socially conditioned relationships to the world
we live in. However, this is an unnatural form of
a shared thought system. It does not change
our individual energy vibrations, except, perhaps,
to suppress them, at least to some degree.

Social conditioning does not, and cannot,
totally suppress our natural curiosity to the
world we live in, or our natural tendencies to be
individually attracted to, or repulsed by other
ways of life than those of our own culture.

But, surely, social conditioning is necessary
to ensure the survival of any culture, and
to teach its members to respect, learn, and express
the knowledge and values that have been developed
over many generations. Each culture surely has
its own way of life, its own myths and beliefs.

Problems arise for the elders and leaders of
individual societies, who are dedicated to the
preservation of traditions, as well as for those
who fear losing a position of control over
younger members who might be naturally attracted
to and curious about new, to them, ideas and ways
of life in other communities.

Then, social conditioning has to develop a sense
of exclusion to discourage members from being
tempted to learn more about other ways of life?

Exactly.

Would the elders and leaders within different
societies necessarily know themselves that
individuals possess …

Not possess; are unique energy systems. And,
the result would be the same. Leaders would still
develop taboos to discourage close association
outside of their own society.

Wouldn’t most people in most societies feel
more comfortable and at home within their own
society without needing to be conditioned
to live close to their own kind?

Who is, or are, our own kind?

I don’t know.

Yes.

There is Room in One World for Many Religions

Spirit tells me that to everything there is a season
and purpose.Of course I’ve heard that before,
in the Church of my childhood.

Perhaps every religion has its own history that is
taught to honour the wise prophets
of that particular tradition.

They are all one tradition in different forms.

Why would one come in different disguises?

Never in disguise.

Then, why are they each seemingly designed …

Not seemingly. They are each and every one designed
to fit the needs of individual cultures, at a
specific time in their formation and development.

But, why are they each a part of specific cultures?

To express the essence and potential of each
specific culture.

Then, the Universe contributes to the …

The Universe more than contributes to individual
expression. It designs each individual expression,
at least the essence of that expression.

But, its expression is in form.

Yes, and form requires …

What?

What do you think?

Form is the expression of essence?

Not necessarily.

How can it not be?

Form can be distorted and misused.

Perhaps every religion is guilty of that.

None are.

Please explain.

Religions in themselves are all pure,
as reflections of a vision provided to a
particular culture, through saints and
prophets. It is never the religion that
becomes tainted.

However, some individuals are and always
have been tempted to distort and contaminate
its pure essence, and to use and abuse
the flock they were entrusted to serve and care
for, to benefit themselves, alone.

But, if all religions have always ..

No

Then if some …

All religions, in essence have been designed
to serve us all. But, all religious leaders
have been tempted, and some have surrendered
their souls to that temptation.

So, what is the answer?

To what?

If all religions have been designed to serve us
well and yet can become contaminated by human greed,
how can individuals who seem to need to belong to
a religious community with a structural centre that
symbolizes their particular faith, ever know
the original messages of the founders of their faith?

The essence is within us and can never be distorted.

Then, what is this essence?

A sense of oneness of community, within a larger
community within an even larger ….

Then, there is room in one world for many religions?

Is there room in one body for more than one organ,
or for more than one cell within each organ?

The individual body components are designed to serve
both themselves and all others, each in its own way?

Yes.

A dynamic relationship

Spirit tells me that He and I are as separate assortments of
energy systems, each containing the same energies as the other
but in different strengths and qualities.

We must learn to harmonize with each other, not to homogenize
our particular unique mix of strengths and weaknesses.

We must learn from the concept of Yin and Yang, who share
a dynamic relationship without denying or seeking to
diminish the intrinsic value of the other.

This is our chosen way of life, and perhaps some day
it will be so with everyone.

Life is like that

Spirit tells me that we each are as rays of the sun, but not separate from the sun in any real way other than the direction we may choose to face. The sun, He tells me, has power to pull its rays home.

Life, too, is like that. We each live an individual existence only in our own mind and, perhaps, in the minds of some others. But, no number of individual illusions alters the reality of the illusion.

A powerful sense of responsibility

Spirit tells me that the purpose of His teaching is to encourage

The study and practice of an increasingly clearer understanding of

Our interconnectedness to all forms of life, human and otherwise,

And of our personal responsibility to care for and protect, not only

Our own unique individual life, but also that of the countless,

Equally unique life forms that we share our world with.

How?

By becoming intentionally aware of how we live and the negative

Affect that may have on others.

That would require a powerful sense of responsibility.

Not would; it does.

Is it possible?

Yes.

How?

One step at a time.

And the first step is intention?

Yes.

Existence doesn’t depend on a belief system

Spirit tells me that His existence does not depend upon

My temporary belief system, or my seeming illusion that

We are separate in any real way.

Belief in an individual ego, He tells me, serves us well,

As long as and to the degree that it does. But,

The reality is, we are as separated from each other as

Individual neighbourhoods are separated from

The city that they are a part of..

How we learn who we are

Spirit tells me that we are as individual sparks of Life

Experiencing life.

We learn to know who we are and what we are by

Experiencing relationships with other sparks of Life,

Of intensities that may differ, in some way, or ways,

To our own.

They are, these other sparks, what and whom they have

Become, as are we.

The strengths and weaknesses of other sparks

Provide us with a means of knowing our own, by

Comparing ourselves with others.

This awareness is not meant to be used to judge

Others, nor ourselves. Differences exist and are

As a gift to everyone.

How would it be possible, He asks me, to know

Anything, if nothing or no-one differed, or seemed

Not to,, from anyone or anything else, in any way?

How could we grow? or be aware that we had, or

Had not?

Awareness of differences can serve to inspire each

Of us to become, not as any other, but all that we can,

And in this way, inspire others to do the same,

Not be the same.

Beauty and Pleasure express Spiritual Values

Spirit tells me to release my hold on the heavy but

Seductive energies of material values. For me, that

Position is neither desirable nor possible.

I tell Spirit that material comforts surely express

Spiritual values of beauty and pleasure, and that

Perhaps we each must find our own comfort zone

Where our own, individual spiritual and material

Values co-exist in harmony with each other,

Each expressing the other.

Yes, He agrees, as if He expected my response and

Intended to provoke it.

Perhaps, He suggests, I will learn to relax my hold

Without releasing it. Over-simplicity, for the sake of

Simplicity, He tells me, is a trap of false pride.

The middle way is a personal way and, as such is

A different path for every individual.

The River of Life and Meditation

A wise man once claimed that we cannot step into the same

River twice. Spirit tells me that the river referred to was Life, not

Water, alone. And, claims Spirit, the River of Life contains many

Undercurrents that we must step carefully through to reach safety.

The unavoidable undercurrents of emotion and thought are two

Potential dangers we each must learn to walk through while

Crossing the River of Life.

How?

Deep breathing and meditation can help us.

How?

Air is necessary to life but only if we breathe in and then out.

If we practice sitting quietly and breathing deeply, while we

Focus on a particular emotion that is troubling us, then

Step into that emotion by breathing it in, deeply, and then

Release it, again and again.

Both emotion and thought, claims Spirit, are life-giving energies.

But, as with all nutrients, there is a fine balance between

Beneficial (the Middle Way) and the self-destructive quantities of

Too little or too much. We each must learn to recognize our

Individual needs.

Denial and Rejection serve us well

Spirit tells me that denial and rejection serve us well,

While they serve us at all. However, inevitably and

Unavoidably, acceptance of reality wins the game.

Whether or not we eagerly strive toward enlightenment,

Awareness, or a simple acceptance of Life as it is, is a

Personal choice and expresses our Individual style, or

Coping skills – our way of playing the game of Life.
