Different rules for the game of Life

Spirit tells me that we each play the Game of Life by a unique set of

Rules that favours ourselves  more than anyone else.

Intentionally?

Intentionally what? To play our way? or to play to win?

How can we play Life with someone else’s rules?

We each play by the same rules.

How can the rules be unique and the same?

Because we see them that way?

How else could we play?

With awareness.

Awareness of what?

Life.

How can we learn to be more aware of Life?

By living.

We do.

Yes.

The Path is The Only Game in Town

Spirit tells me that we each follow our own Path of Enlightenment

And that The Path is the only game in town.

Travel along the path requires thoughts and emotions working

Together in more or less harmony, to create our unique personality.

The path of enlightenment does not have a geographical location

As a goal. Instead, it is a personal, spiritual journey or process

To refine the quality of our thoughts and emotions, and the

Actions that express them.

Pawns can make a Difference in the Game

Spirit tells me that I am, as I sometimes suspect that

I might be, and yet struggle against the very idea of

Being, no more than a pawn in the Game of Life.

Pawns can and do make a difference, He tells me, as if

That would cheer me up. Yes, He continues, pawns can be

Part of winning a game, but only if they are willing to serve

A skilled, master of the game.

Spirit is not without ego. The implication is, of course,

That I am the pawn while He is the skilled, master player.

The rules of the game are Universal Laws, but the Spirit

Of the game is Love. The rules are inflexible, in the same

Sense that four o’clock comes at the same each day,

Whether or not your day’s work is done.

The good news…

Wow! There’s good news? I try to sound sarcastic, but,

It’s wasted on Him.

The good news, without seeming to have noticed my

Interruption, is that the Game of Life is directed by Love,

And, Love allows for compassion.

That’s so good to know.

But, rules are rules.

Thinking is a game

Spirit tells me that thinking is a game and perhaps He’s right.I somehow need to struggle with ideas and Spirit provides me (bless His soul), with a seemingly endless supply of these.

Sometimes I think I know the what and why of a particular mental challenge He slips into my mind, but, before I can take hold of the how, it slips away, as my inner resources suddenly collapse, as a balloon does, when filled to beyond capacity with hot air.

Spirit smiles at my distress and suggests that I accept that there are games in this world, and beyond, that are beyond me, at least for now, and that I should be able to recognize games that I can’t yet win.

Stop. He spoke of this world and beyond. Now I challenge Him. How can there be a beyond if there is only one world?

“There is and yet there will always be a beyond”.

“As in Buzz Lightyear’s “to infinity and beyond”? (Buzz is a Toy Story character).”

“Yes and no.”

“How?”

“Our world expands to infinity, and expanding awareness is our mode of travel.”

How can I argue with such beautiful logic?

..…………..

The Horizon of My Mind

Spirit suggests that I visualize Him as

The horizon of my own mind, and to

Attempt to come closer to Him.

This concept seems to fit our relationship

Very well, for, as I draw closer to Him,

To His thinking, sustained, to some degree by

The gems of wisdom He provides

My sponge-like appetite,

I never seem to be able

To reach the understanding,

Awareness, and depth of knowing

That He possesses.

Even knowing, or believing that I know

Much more than I ever did, before

He came into my life,

He seems to be able to encourage

My development without fully

Satisfying it. Why?

That would end the game, He tells me.

What game are we playing?

Life.

Life?

Yes.
