Abusive Habits Become Addictions

A Spirit Teacher shares His understanding of timeless wisdom
as it applies to human nature in every situation and in every
culture; past, present, and future.

How can wisdom be timeless?

Because human nature is also timeless, in that it is grounded
in emotion.

That may be true, but …

It is true.

How does timeless wisdom apply to abusive behaviour?

Timeless wisdom inspires healthy emotions, thoughts,
and actions. Abuse of others or of self is neither
healthy nor life-sustaining.

Should we forgive those who abuse us?

How dan abuse be forgiven? That would be an unhealthy
response. What good purpose would it serve? None at all.
In fact, it might even encourage more abuse.

Abuse, He tells me, is unhealthy behaviour regardless of
who is abusing whom, or even whether the one being abused
accepts ill treatment. That would express self-abuse.

How then can we respond in a healthy way to abuse when we
can’t protect ourselves from it?

We make choices, and perhaps past choices helped to create
the abusive situation.

Why do you speak of an abusive situation and not of an
abusive person.

There are none.

Please explain.

WE develop abusive habits or we don’t.

As an addiction?

Yes.

We Each Change Everything

Spirit tells me that I can only be or become
the person I already am; the person I have
always been and always will be.

I can understand that I am who I was and
will be, but can I become other than I am?

Yes. We change everything and everything
changes us. We are not what we were or
what we may yet become.

So, I’m both a who and a what?

You are not a who; you are who. And,
you can never be a what, whatever what
you may have in mind.

What am I if I am not what I am?

You are a woman.

But, that’s not unique.

The woman you are is unique.

In what way?

No other woman is you.

Being is not enough.

Enough what?

Achievement.

Being doesn’t require much achievement.

But, I want to achieve.

What?

I don’t know.

Nothing can be achieved without effort.

And acquiring something requires effort?

Yes.

And effort requires intent?

Yes.

And intent comes before effort?

Yes.

And what comes before intent?

Desire and a chosen way to achieve
what is desired.

And opportunity?

Yes, but sometimes we must create
our own opportunities.

How?

Observation and preparation, with
help from synchronicity.

Chance?

Call it what you will, but first
do nothing until you know what to do.

How to do nothing?

Practice.

Meditate?

Yes.
But, I

Limitless Potential

Spirit tells me that limitless potential is all that is,

was, or ever will be.

What does that mean in terms of those of us

who live in a very material and physical world?

It means that your so-called world is a temporary

experience.

The world as an experience?

Your world as an experience.

I am experiencing a personal world?

Yes.

How?

How what?

How can I experience a personal world?

By creating one.

Consciously?

More or less.

Then, everyone else creates and experiences

their own personal world?

Yes.

Then, how do all of our personal worlds

merge together?

They cannot.

But, we co-exist on or in one material world.

Do you?

What does that mean?

When or while we each create and experience

our separate existence from others, then

we each see the same reality from a personal

perspective.

Example?

One group may fight to defend a perceived claim

to land that the inhabitants of that land fight

to defend as their homeland. Then, each group

justifies their own action and condemns that

of the other.

You’re going to tell me that individuals think

and behave in the same way as groups?

No.

Then, what?

Groups are individuals who think and behave

as individuals, only collectively.

Then, the way we see the group world we each

create individually can only be changed

by individuals?

Yes.

How?

We need to learn to accept that others may not

experience the same thoughts as we do.

What about emotions?

What about them?

Do we not also experience different emotions?

No.

Then, emotions are more limited than thoughts?

Yes. Emotions have a more limited variety

than thoughts, but their depth is endless.

So, thoughts have an endless creative potential

but emotions possess a limitless depth of

expression?

Yes.

There Is No Way Out

Spirit tells me that a person in Third Grade
is not necessarily a third grade person.
We each are where we each are, for whatever
reason.

Wherever we each might be at any given time,
and in whatever given situation does not,
in itself express our individual potential
to reach higher and more expanded levels
of awareness, strengths, and success
in whatever our natural and unique potentials
have destined us to reach towards.

Even people who seem to be stuck where they are,
or who now might be resistant to change for
whatever reason, are exactly where they must be
at this stage of their development; spiritual,
emotional, intellectual, or physical.

We each have role models who may have helped us
stay stuck, or inspired us to move on.

And become increasingly aware that we are
influenced by certain other people?

Or situations.

Can situations serve as role models?

Situations themselves are never unique,
except as individually expressed in
particular ways.

Then situations develop or are influenced
by other situations?

Or as mirror images of other situations.

Or as a reaction or response to …?

Yes.

But, people are part of or are affected by
any existing situation.

People contribute to the preconditions or
causes and consequences or affects of
any existing personal or group situation,
large or small.

That isn’t where you’re going, though.

Where am I going?

You’re going to scold us all …

Not scold for its own sake.

Then, to dare us to expand our awareness
of potential consequences of human
reluctance to accept responsibility for
the world we live in?

Yes. And to encourage awareness of
the human tendency to blame others for
situations that we helped to create,
and then to do battle with those others.

What you say seems to be so, but how to
get out of this endless loop?

There is no way out.

It Serves us Well to Remember

Spirit tells me that it serves us well
to remember the horror of tragic events
that might never have happened if …

If what?

If violence was not socially acceptable.

By whom?

By those who commit acts of violence.

How is that possible? Surely, for
whatever reason or reasons, surprise
attacks on thousands of unsuspecting
and unarmed people, as happened
on a day like today, not many years
ago, must have made sense to someone.

The attackers?

Perhaps they were persuaded by some
evil genius that what they were asked
to do was of value to a cause
that justified mass murder.

Yes.

Then, how can we create a world community
wherein such thinking is unthinkable?

We can only create such a community
with individuals who learn to care
for all other individuals.

Surely that is impossible.

Why?

We seem to need to come together
in small groups of people wherein
we each contribute our unique skills
for the benefit of the whole
community; our chosen community.

How would such a small community
be chosen?

Shared values.

And, how would you develop
shared values?

Education?

Yes, but education is never enough.

Then, what else?

This world, and every community,
large and small, within it, needs
individual role models, mentors,
teachers, care givers, and leaders
who understand why they were chosen
to lead.

Is it possible to create such
a world community?

Yes.

There is no lasting structure

Spirit shares gems of wisdom.

Spirit tells me that everything I say or do should be for a reason
that I understand and can accept responsibility for.

He encourages me to live life here and now, day by day, and to create
a living and lived philosophy of life, and to become what I know I can
become; more and more what I really am, by living with purpose and
meaning.

That sounds beautiful but how do I set attainable goals.

These are attainable goals.

But, the horizon is too distant and unattainable for me. I need
structure.

Yes, and there is none, none that is lasting.

Ultimate Reality – Spirit’s I Ching 1 – The Creative

Spirit explains I Ching – 1 – The Creative.

Heaven over Heaven, the ultimate reality, or, as it has been described,

As above, so below.

Nothing creates itself alone. Nothing sustains itself, alone. And, nothing

Destroys itself, alone.

What about Life?

What about it?

Who or what creates, sustains, or destroys …

Life is self-creating.

But, you said ..

Life is not a who or what.

Then what?

Ultimate reality.

An inner palette of life-force energy

Spirit tells me that we each possess a unique blend of

Life-force energies that express themselves as

Potentialities. However, nothing we experience is unique,

Except that it is necessarily a personal experience.

The colours of our inner energy palette can be blended

With each other in seemingly endless ways. Our unique

Blend of life-force energies makes the difference in how

We each create and experience life.

Does all this activity go on behind the scenes? or between

The lines of the story of my life?

Are you asking me if you are aware of what is happening?

Yes.

Then the answer is obviously no.

Is it possible to be aware?

Of what?

Of my life-force energies.

Yes.

The Path is The Only Game in Town

Spirit tells me that we each follow our own Path of Enlightenment

And that The Path is the only game in town.

Travel along the path requires thoughts and emotions working

Together in more or less harmony, to create our unique personality.

The path of enlightenment does not have a geographical location

As a goal. Instead, it is a personal, spiritual journey or process

To refine the quality of our thoughts and emotions, and the

Actions that express them.

All stress is a response to experience

Spirit tells me that all stress is a response to experience, but

Experience itself does not necessarily create stress.

How we choose to respond to experiences that Life

Provides us with, and we seem to respond differently to

Similar situations at different times, determines how

Stressful each experience will be.

I have a problem with that explaination.

Yes.

Choosing suggests rational thought.

Yes.

But, how can we choose an emotional response?

Why would you choose an emotional response?

Surely an emotional response is a more immediate and

Natural expression of how I experience whatever situation.

Doesn’t emotion have to come before thought?

Yes.

Then?

Emotion may be triggered by experience, but thought

Would determine how to respond.

Always?

Always. even when thought allows emotion to have its way.
