Non-Local Consciousness

jeanw5's avatarGrass-Roots Spiritual Philosophy 101

A simple seeker was meditating on the concept of
non-local consciousness.

But, I’m conscious and I’m also local. I’m here.

How conscious are you? How local are you? And,
where is here?

Are you trying to confuse me?

No. You do that very well for and to yourself.

So, then, what does non-local consciousness
mean?

It simply means that consciousness is local,
but not necessarily exclusively so.

As in cosmic consciousness?

That’s the non-local aspect of it.

And my portion is …

You don’t have an exclusive portion.

But, I’m conscious.

Yes, at least to some extent.

Then, do I have a limited capacity
to be conscious?

Of what?

Of being conscious.

Again, of what?

Of whatever I’m conscious of.

To what extent?

Haven’t we been there before?

Where?

Okay, please explain what non-local
consciousness is.

Consciousness that’s non-local.

As in unlimited awareness?

Yes.

And my awareness is …

Yes.

Transcendence as Sacred, or Is It?

jeanw5's avatarSimple Seeker Society

Spirit tells me that when we intend
to learn more about life, or anything
else, as if there were anything
unrelated to life, then we intend
to transcend what we now know,
or think we know.

Or now believe?

No. Belief is an end point.

Until we doubt?

Yes.

Back to transcendence.

Transcendence doesn’t go back.

I thought the term transcendence
was spiritual.

It is, but not exclusively.

Isn’t there a danger in …

Using a word to express what it
was designed to express?

Then, to rise above could refer
to moving up a material ladder
from a lower to a higher level?

Yes, or to intentionally integrate
thoughts and emotions, and then
to transcend that integration
by physically or mentally
acting on the outcome.

Then, action, any action, is
an intentional expression of
a blend of thought and emotion?

Yes.

Regardless of the quality of the
blend or…

Beneath the Surface of Cause and Effect

jeanw5's avatarI Ching as a Way to Enlightenment

A Spirit teacher shares His understanding
of the situation expressed by the I Ching
hexagram 56 – Travel.

Fire is over Mountain.

Travel follows abundance (55) and is itself
followed by Wind (57).

There is a time to move forward and a time
when moving is unwise. Fire travels if and
when it can.

If we seek to follow the advice of the text …

And we do, or at least some of us.

Then, how can we know.

What?

When to move and when to resist moving.

Expanded awareness.

Of what?

Of the situation in question.

Do all situations possess a potential
for movement?

Yes, and more.

What more?

The inevitability of movement.

Cause and effect?

Not necessarily, but cause and effect
are more easily understood than
the underlying impetus to continuous
movement.

The underlying impetus?

Yes.

What could it be?

Destiny.

The Fingerprint of Personal Energy

Until I learn how to simply link our (more Spirit’s than mine) three blogs to each other.

jeanw5's avatarGrass-Roots Spiritual Philosophy 101

A simple seeker was meditating on the concept of
individuals possessing an individual frequency
of energy

Not frequency as singular, unless …

Unless what?

Unless there is no variation in our individual
thought processes.

Is that possible?

No.

Then, our thoughts harmonize?

Or they do not.

Is it possible for them to harmonize?

Yes.

Is it desirable?

No.

Then, awareness …

Yes.

How to become aware?

Of what?

Of the degree to which our individual thoughts …

And emotions?

Yes.

It isn’t a matter of becoming aware of our
thoughts and emotions, but rather of to what
degree they harmonize with each other.

And the degree to which our personal thoughts
and emotions harmonize with each other at any
particular time and in whatever particular
situation determines the strength and quality
of our individual vibrations and frequency of?

Yes.

Wow!

Why, chela, does that understanding seem to
distress you?

Couldn’t…

I Ching 64 – Unsettled

jeanw5's avatarI Ching as a Way to Enlightenment

Today’s I Ching – 64 – Unsettled

Fire above, Water below.

Unsettled follows Settled in the order of the Hexagrams.

Spirit explains:

Settled suggests an end of struggle.

A goal has been reached.

However, when one day ends,

Another begins. Hexagram 64

completes a series of events

And situations. Challenges

Have been faced and dealt with,

More or less. Now we are restless

To move on.

I interrupt. What about time out?

Spirit sighs at my simplicity.

There is no time out.

The Fire of Imagination

There is always another way out of any problem if we use our intuition to guide our decision-making.

jeanw5's avatarI Ching as a Way to Enlightenment

Spirit shares His understanding of I Ching Wisdom.

Hexagram 30 – Fire (Clinging) follows Double Pitfall (29)
and is in turn followed by Sensing (31).

Double Pitfall seems to suggest being stuck or trapped
between a rock and a hard place.

A need to choose between two unpleasant options?

Yes.

We could resist choosing either.

Postpone decision-making and hope for a third …?

Not hope.

Then, what?

Expanding our awareness of the situation.

Where does Fire fit in?

Into what?

Into taking time to consider possible alternatives
that are not obviously available?

The fire of imagination.

Envisioning what a third option would look like?

Yes.

What if there isn’t a third option?

There is always another way out of any problem.

That sounds absolute.

It is absolute.

Then, Sensing could suggest using one’s intuition?

For what purpose?

To guide our decision-making.

Yes.

Practice or Habit

jeanw5's avatarSimple Seeker Society

Spirit tells me that

Practice can result in

The development of

Physical, intellectual, emotional and, or

Spiritual patterns of behaviour, but that

Habits can also result in

The development of physical,

Intellectual, emotional, and, or

Spiritual patterns of behaviour.

The difference between

Practice and habit is that

Practice requires intent to

Continuously develop

 Desired patterns of

Thinking, feeling, behaving and being.

While habits can develop

Through the lack of intent and

Conscious self-control.

Beauty and Evil

A simple seeker (myself) seeks simple answers from Spirit, to life’s not-so-simple problems.

jeanw5's avatarGrass-Roots Spiritual Philosophy 101

A simple seeker was meditating on something
that St. Augustine was supposed to have said,
that all evil has a reason.

You seem to have difficulty accepting
that reality, chela.

Reason sounds so overly deliberate
and intentional.

Is there a difference?

Intention sounds predetermined.

And deliberate?

Perhaps in the heat of the moment?

As a reaction rather than as a response?

Yes.

And intentional as …?

Either way it would then have to have had
a pre-existing cause?

Yes.

But, a cause is not a justification but
just something that came before.

Wrong.

Wrong?

Wrong.

Please explain.

The number two comes before three three in simple
number progression but it does not cause three.

Three is just the next number following two?

Yes

What has that to do with evil?

Everything.

How?

Evil is a consciously intentional and extreme
form of violence.

That explanation seems to separate the evil
from…

The Life of Walk and Talk with Spirit

An early post revisited. It expresses a difference of opinion between myself and my highly respected Spirit Teacher that still exists, or seems to.

jeanw5's avatarSimple Seeker Society

It was going to be the adventure of a lifetime,

my lifetime.

It was never about money, and yet,

Money is a necessity, or

The means to the necessities

Of life. After all,

What can you do without money,

In our society?

I wanted to write about Spirit.

I seemed to need to write about Spirit and

About his intensely wise philosophy of

Simple living, but

How simple is still satisfying is

Where we disagreed.

He could, it seemed,

More easily talk the talk than

I could or can walk his walk.

There has to be a middle way

I tell Him. Even Buddha

Was aware of that.

Retreat is Not an Option

jeanw5's avatarI Ching as a Way to Enlightenment

A spirit teacher shares His understanding of
I Ching 39 – Halting.

Water is above Mountain.

On high mountain tops, water expressing itself
as ice or snow can temporarily resist
its natural tendency to flow downhill. But,
it will never lose its potential to move,
and will do so, when and if it can.

The text seems to relate to human activities.

The text always relates to human activities.

Then, natural forces are used to express
human activities.

Human activities express natural forces.

Does that suggest we should accept that
some situations require us to halt?

Require?

In the sense that we cannot move forward.

Retreat is always an option.

But if we are moving in a direction
we believe in, why would we consider
retreat?

Yes.
