Dreams Serve us Well

A spirit teacher shares His understanding of timeless wisdom.

He tells me that dreams serve us well, even if we can’t remember
them, upon awakening.

They’re designed to help us see symbolic meaning between
situations and personalities, whether human, animal, or
imaginary creatures, within the dream and similar situations,
events, and characters within our everyday non-sleeping world
of illusion.

Situations and stories play out in dreams, He tells me, and
then, usually, end suddenly. We wake up to a different world;
one of more easily understood situations and characters.

Perhaps we have just become accustomed to the events, and
actors in our waking world?

Yes, and familiarity can easily breed deceit.

In what way?

There have always been some unethical advertisers, politicians, false prophets, etc. who use a pretense of authority and truth
to persuade or pressure trusting minds.

But, in a dream I witnessed a crow doing what crows couldn’t
likely do.

Were you aware of this during the dream?

I seem to remember being confused and in awe.

But, you accepted the situation as being valid?

Yes.

Why didn’t you question something that didn’t seem to make
sense?

Because I was witnessing the event. It was only in my mind
that it didn’t make sense.

You read fictitious stories without expecting them to be real.

Yes, of course but, surely, real life is not a fictitious story.

Then, why don’t you question events and situations in your
so-called waking life that don’t seem to make sense, and
people who claim to be be what you suspect the’re not.

Perhaps they have a hidden agenda?

Yes.

But, I’m only one person. What possible useful purpose
would it serve for me to …

So, you adopt a more socially acceptable position of
pretending not to know?

I guess. But, if whatever untruth is generally accepted
then surely some others must also know the truth and, like me,
pretend not to.

Why?

It’s easier, and possibly safer.

Yes.

Serving Life is Not an Option

A spirit teacher shares His understanding of timeless wisdom.
He tells me that serving life is not an option and that
we each serve; some more and some less.

At some level of awareness, we know it. But, we may be
too grounded in physical and material illusions
to consciously consider, or very much care about,
our degree of impact on those with whom we share
our environment, or possibly the environment itself.

Many of us fail to see that we may be part of
the environment, from the perspective of some others,
if they are even aware enough to notice us at all.

What about personal relationships?

What about them?

Are they no more or less than a part of our awareness?

Outside of oneself?

Yes.

No.

I hesitate to ask about what seems to be suggested.

The non-dual nature of reality?

Yes.

Why hesitate?

I’m not ready to deal with it.

Yes.

The Way it Is

Spirit tells me that we each are as rays of the sun
but not separate from the sun in any real way other
than the direction we may choose to face. The sun,
He tells me, has power to pull its rays home.

Life, too, is like that. We each live an individual
existence only in our own mind and, perhaps in the
minds of some others. But no number or individual or
group illusions alters the reality of the illusion.

The Price of Expanded Awareness

Spirit tells me that whenever the sudden
sense of awareness of an expanded
so-called reality seems to have blown
our mind, it is helpful to ask ourselves
just where has it blown our mind?

We are now beyond where we had been,
or, more truthfully, we are now beyond
being able to ever again be where we
previously had been.

It is not a matter of choosing to be
less directly engaged with other
characters and situations in the play,
or game of Life, than we once were,
and can honestly be no more.

How to recover from sudden removal
from the close-up action, even though
we may now see it all from a certain
distance as more-or-less meaningless
activity?

That would be an easy-out.

Then, how to respond?

To what?

To the awareness of not being
in the action.

Are you physically removed from it?

Not completely.

Then, what?

I seem to have been recast,
as a member of the audience, but
an audience that influences
the activity on the stage.

Yes. We are never totally disconnected
from either the play or the players.

That’s it.

What is it?

My character is still there, at least
in form. But I now know that I
acted as that character. So, am I
an actor?

Yes and no.

I want to be real.

What would real look like?

I’m not sure. I can see what is
happening, from a distance, as well as
from close-up.

Are you now more or less engaged
in the play?

I seem to be more aware of
the potential for expansion in
the value of the play.

Yes, and that expanded awareness comes
with a price you must pay.

Expanded responsibility?

Yes.

Note: Dear Reader, Spirit suggests that we each spend
a few minutes at the beginning and again at the ending
of each day, reflecting on the seemingly nonsensical
world we live in, and then to smile with awareness
of the incredible potential, locked within all that
seems to make no sense, waiting to be activated.

The non-dual nature of reality

Spirit shares gems of wisdom.

Spirit tells me that serving life is not an option and that
we each and every one do serve; some more, some less.

Whether we know it or not?

At some level of awareness, we know it. But, we may be
too grounded in physical and material illusion
to consciously consider, or very much care about,
our degree of impact on those with whom we share
our environment, or, possibly, the environment itself.

the environment, from the perspective of some others,
if they are even aware enough to notice us at all.

Yes.

Oneness is a core principle of Life

Spirit tells me that a new story must be told about our inner reality, an inner world of Spirit wherein all Life is eager to assist and share in the creation of our future, and to teach us how to care for each other, everyone, and everything we care for.

We are each citizens of this world, He tells me. We each blend our unique energies together into one. We are serving each other, in one way or another

Oneness is a core principle of Life.

Your story is my story

Spirit tells me that our personal stories must necessarily be incomplete and less than real.

“How can my life story be less than real?”

“Who experienced it?”

“I did.”

“And who recorded it?”

“I did.”

“How?”

“Through memories. How else?”

“Someone might have told you your story when you were too young to be aware of how true it was.”

“If so, that was then.”

“Your story can never be then. Life stories are never then and now, unless there are two or more versions of the same story, and there always are.”

“Then how can we know our own story?”

“It isn’t possible. We’re living interconnected life stories.”

“Then your story and mine may be the same story?”

“Yes, from different perspectives.”

To even attempt to explain …

Spirit asks me to try to see Life through the eyes of a mystic.

How does a mystic see Life?

As a mystery to be deeply respected, cherished, and served.

How to serve Life? What is Life?

All that is.

Then, how is it possible to serve all that is?

By serving yourself in such a way that expresses, if only to yourself, your awareness of oneness to everyone and everything else.

How to explain that to anyone?

To even attempt to explain it is to deny the reality.

Those who understand …

Yes.

Ultimate Reality – Spirit’s I Ching 1 – The Creative

Spirit explains I Ching – 1 – The Creative.

Heaven over Heaven, the ultimate reality, or, as it has been described,

As above, so below.

Nothing creates itself alone. Nothing sustains itself, alone. And, nothing

Destroys itself, alone.

What about Life?

What about it?

Who or what creates, sustains, or destroys …

Life is self-creating.

But, you said ..

Life is not a who or what.

Then what?

Ultimate reality.

Awareness of Reality is Progress

Spirit reads I Ching 53 – Gradual Progress.

Gradual Progress develops from Mountain (53) and moves toward

Marrying (54).

Spirit explains:  Mountains can seem to be as barriers, challenges,

Or as just part of the environment. They can be as beauty, in the eye

Of the beholder, and a pleasure to climb, or as an obstruction

To ignore, if possible.

How we see anything or anyone determines, or at least influences,

To some extent, our relationship with it or with them.

Awareness of this reality is progress along the way of enlightenment.

Where does Marrying fit into this picture?

We commit ourselves to Life, or we do not. It’s as simple as that.

If that is simple.

Yes.
