Pleasure and responsibility blend

Spirit tells me that, as I care for the plants (He seems to

Disapprove of my calling them my plants) on my patio or

In my little back garden, they also care for me, and,

 

Even during Winter, they, as I do, require care.

 

However, we each may require more care or a

Different type of care during different seasons of

Our lives, as do different people we know and

Care about, in a personal way.

 

These special plants and people (for they are special, if

Only to us) seem to need what we alone can give them,

Our love, unconditionally.

 

We share a personal, interdependent relationship;

A bonding of emotion and thought, of

Pleasure and responsibility.

 

Slow is faster than slower

Spirit tells me that slow is faster than slower.

 

I had been complaining, again, that I seem unable to

Either accept or adapt to unwelcome changes in my

Environment.

 

And, He adds, while we’re on the subject of

A so-called personal environment, please try

To both accept and adapt to the reality that

There is no personal environment.

 

How do I plan to respond to His seeming

Indifference to my discomfort?

I’m going back to bed.

 

We each have a duty to care

Spirit tells me that we each have a sacred duty to care for

The world we live in, the world that sustains us and

Makes it possible for us to experience physical

Existence within a material creation.

 

Each suggests a personal responsibility.

 

Yes.

 

How is it possible for individuals…

 

Are you speaking of individuals in general or of

Yourself, in particular?

 

Both.

 

The answer is the same.

 

My question is still, how can it be done?

 

It can only be done individually. We each must learn to

Care about and care for everyone and everything else.

 

We each may have a different understanding of

What it means to care about and for.

 

What is your understanding?

 

I do care about and for whom and what I can.

 

How much do you care about and for, and

How do you express this care?

 

Am I on a witness stand?

 

Everyone is on a witness stand.

 

 

Beauty and Pleasure express Spiritual Values

Spirit tells me to release my hold on the heavy but

Seductive energies of material values. For me, that

Position is neither desirable nor possible.

 

I tell Spirit that material comforts surely express

Spiritual values of beauty and pleasure, and that

Perhaps we each must find our own comfort zone

Where our own, individual spiritual and material

Values co-exist in harmony with each other,

Each expressing the other.

 

Yes, He agrees, as if He expected my response and

Intended to provoke it.

 

Perhaps, He suggests, I will learn to relax my hold

Without releasing it. Over-simplicity, for the sake of

Simplicity, He tells me, is a trap of false pride.

 

The middle way is a personal way and, as such is

A different path for every individual.

 

 

 

If Life is a Story

Spirit tells me that if Life is a story, and, He seems to insist,

In many ways it is, then the pages of past experiences

That we call memories, are as earlier chapters in our

Personal Book of Life.

 

If so, I ask, without necessarily doubting my wise teacher,

Then why did the past not even seem to hint at my

Present life or provide even a misty vision of what

My future might possibly be?

 

Lack of awareness and narrow focus, He sighs, and then

Begins to improvise Pete Seeger, singing ‘When will they

Ever learn”, from “Where have all the flowers gone”.
