Confidence As A Trap

Spirit asks me what it means to be intelligent.

To be able to think.

What does it mean to be able to think?

About what?

About anything.

To think is to become aware of what is happening
in and around me.

No.

How can I become aware without first thinking?

How can you think without first becoming aware?

Then, thinking is to intentionally focus on
whatever I become aware of?

For what purpose?

To understand.

To understand what?

Why it is the way it seems to be,

Why?

To satisfy my curiosity.

And?

To consider how to respond to this new
awareness.

Yes.

But …

But what?

If I have developed a response that has become
a habit, how would thinking be involved?

It would not be.

Thinking would be bypassed?

Yes.

Then, I would become as the scientist’s dog?

Yes.

Expecting results that may not happen?

Yes.

So, what is the answer?

To what?

How is it possible or even desirable to use
precious time considering results other than
what we have become confident of, if those
results are all that we are familiar with?

How to consider the unexpected?

Yes.

Confidence can become as a trap.

The wild card?

Yes.
To understand what?

Unconditional Love is Intelligent Love

Spirit tells me that unconditional love
is intelligent love.

But, isn’t love an emotion?

Yes.

And, doesn’t intelligence require
intellect?

Yes.

Then, is unconditional love a blend
of intellect and emotion?

No.

Please explain.

What?

How unconditional love …

Expresses intelligence?

Yes.

Do we love whom we do only when
their behaviour pleases us?

No.

Why?

We choose to overlook imperfections.

Yes.

What does that mean?

You answered your own question.

How?

Choice requires decision-making,
and that requires intellect.

So, unconditional love does not
negate or excuse unlovable
behaviour, but chooses to love
regardless.

Yes.

A cosmic reporter assigned to Earth

Spirit, at times, seems to pretend to be an alien reporter, who is

Curious to learn more about the strange ways we humans

Relate to each other.

We are, He tells me, or seem to be, otherwise intelligent beings,

So, why, He asks, are we, or some of us, so interested in

Establishing new schools of thought?

What seems to be needed, considering such widespread

Environmental destruction, is a new way of being, a new way

Of living with each other, in a more mutually supportive

Manner, and in harmony with nature.

To exploit natural resources is to abuse your future, our future,,

And the future of tomorrow’s people.

I want very much to defend myself and everyone else, but

I don’t know how.

There is no defence. He reads my thoughts. But, we will

Learn from experience, the cost of our neglect.
