Haven’t we all been drilled with that advice?
And yet, perhaps our conscience is a socially conditioned inner self that may or may not always be in harmony with an inner knowing, our personal awareness that psychologists know call our personal unconscious mind., which is a part of the collective unconscious mind of humanity. Can they be in harmony with each other? Not always.

Compassion is a variable – more or less. Forgiveness is not – it’s either/or.
Language makes a difference.
The words we use to describe our feelings can express honesty, or pretense, possibly without our even knowing it.
Forgiveness would be globally disastrous to us all.
We lock our doors to protect ourselves from those who might enter and help themselves to whatever they choose.
Rule of law does not forgive thieves.
So much nonsense has been pushed at us about forgiveness being holy and sacred.
“It’s madness.
Compassion serves us much better, for we can understand what circumstances may have driven someone to commit whatever crime, and yet accept that justice must also be served.
You do the crime – you pay the time.
Forgiveness may have been introduced by the Church, for, since nobody can really forgive, it makes them feel guilty, and in need of confession and forgiveness.
Confession (not of the crime, but for not being able to forgive it), and the compensation.
Feed the Poor Box.
How much of what goes into that Poor Box actually goes to the poor?
Only the priests know for sure, and other Church employees.

Was it Plato who told his wouldj-be students that before they could enter his school, they had to study Math?
Basic mathematical principles apply to all fields of life, even spirituality.
Awareness develops, not on its own, but on measuring the results of our everyday rejsponses to situations tht present themselves to us.
People, places, and things come together in situations.
Perhaps situations can be seen as relationships between us and everyone and everything else.

It’s possible that we can each only so-called awaken to a unique degree of such.
We each are what we each are, a unique blend of all possible qualities and types of human energy.
And yet, we may each have much more potential to open to awakening than we now are aware of.

Energy Moves. Reading the future may never become an exact science.
But, everything that is happening now has potential to develop into someting else.
What something else?
It can chanage direction, or, even with a car racing 90 miles per hour down a dead-end street, there is a chance that it will run out of fuel, have some other kind of breakdown, or the driver may choose to slow down or even stop. Slowing down would reduce impact, while stopping might prevent it.
How does that relate to how we’re living our lives?

With, perhaps, the awareness of the variable of oneness determining, or expressing, how expanded our awareness is?
The air in a balloon expands the physical form of the balloon as more air is blown into it.
Also, as a natural consequence of the balloon becoming more expanded and lighter, since the form is expanded (as is elastic) and allows the balloon to rise higher into the atmosphere.
The conscious mind could be seen as a balloon, with content from the unconscious allowing/causing it to rise and expand.

Do we simply hang on as long as we can?

Compassion is a state of mind that connects us with another.
Forgiveness seems to separate us into two sides – one is the victim/forgiver and the other is the wrongdoer, the forgiven.
Compassion accepts that justice must be done.
You still must pay the price.
How could you send anyone to jail for something you had forgiven them for?
I see forgiveness as being taught.
Nobody can teach compassion.
And compassion, being a state of mind, isn’t directed at any one person or situation.
It’s like unconditional love – it expands from within.
Usually, forgiveness is a decision that relates to a specific person or problem.
Do so-called forgiven people forgive others?
Or, are there some who forgive and some who seem to need to be forgiven?
We each have our own nature.

We plan what to do more than what to become.
Unless we’re studying how to become skilled in one thing or another.
Some people have a greater or more-focused imagination than do some others.
Some of us are more or less intelligent and/or ambitious than are some others.
And yet, again, these qualities qualities come in infinite variations of each other.
How do we all manage to live as peacefully with so many different people as we do, more or less?
Is it a mkiracle?

Or is it just a seamless blend of energies woven together and expressed as unique (more or less0 human forms?

Whatever anyone can do or say to anyone else, they’re capable of doing or saying to us.
Something to think about when we see horrible things being done.
“Know thyself”
And, if we know ourself well enough, then we know that we’re more like everyone else than we are different from them.
We each and all struggle with some emotions and thoughts, and call them our own, even knowing, or strongly suspecting that everyone else can be as more or less attracted to and by the same emotions and thoughts that seem to hang around us, while they do.
Feelings are as a foundation for emotional and intellectual development.
They raise us above basic animal drives and instinct.
The animal within our nature isn’t threatened by evolutionary development of emotions and thoughts, nor or instinct and intuition, or, for that matter, spirituality.
We simply become more complete when our different qualities of energy learn to harmonize with each other.
I wasn’t always able to understand that truth.
I seemed to be caught up in an either/or perspective and attitude.
It took a long struggle with a dedicated teacher.
How I survived, I don’t know.
Social conditioning may be a blessing in disguise, for it gives us the opportunity to prove the value of that conditioning, or to dare to move beyond it.
It’s not possible to move beyond social conditioning until we first become aware that we have been socially conditioned.
Even awareness is not enough to change anything.
We need to then accept what seems to be so.
Even acceptance is not enough to change anything.
We must go beyond awareness and acceptance to understanding how and why it all developed.
Then, and only then, can we begin to develop skills, if we choose to, to go beyond our conditioned state of mind.

How?
We each are the way we each are, and yet, how did we get this way?
Experience was a powerful contributing factor, and yet we each may respond to the same experience in a more or less unique way.
If psychology is the study of mind and behavior, then whose mind? Whose behavior?
We may each and all be part of a collective mind, and collective patterns of behavior.
And yet, we have each developed a mind of our own (more or less) and a more or less unique pattern of behavior, and patterns of response to the behaviors of those around us.
Knowing this can help us develop conscious awareness of how and why we act the way we do, and how we might be able to change the way we respond to the world we live in.
Is that study now called anthropology?
Someday, there’ll be acceptance of blending between many now separate fields of study.
Is there only one field?
Awareness is the ticket to understanding how integrated all life, and all possible life situations are.
Our awareness expands, perhaps not exponentially, but certainly infinitely, as we open to it.
